Wipes – personal care and surface
Neutral detergent wipes use gentle cleaners and they can be used for any kind of spillage, accident or general cleaning.
Wipes prevent cross contamination and reduce the spread of bacteria. They have the advantage over other alternatives of being disposed of after use. This makes them effective when it comes to reducing the likelihood of bacterial contamination and the spread of infection.
Personal care wipes are for use on the body and they can be carried around in a pocket or a handbag making them accessible at all times. Many people use them for all kinds of personal cleaning. They can also be kept by a bedside or in a bathroom or even in a car. They are an ideal hygiene or clean-up solution and they are easily disposed of once used.
Ideally they should not contain lanolin or alcohol, and some body wipes will have the addition of a skin conditioner and even a mild scent.
Personal wipes can are used in hospitals and medical facilities for all of the reasons given above.
Surface cleaning wipes
Many gentle surface care wipes use similar cleaners to those found in personal care wipes and they do not cause irritation or dryness to the hands. Wipes containing alcohol are not considered neutral and, whilst acceptable for surface cleaning, are less desirable when they come into contact with human skin.
Most wipes are available in small re-sealable packs that enable them to retain their cleaning and cleansing properties. Some are also sold in larger tubs containers although these tend to be used more by medical facilities.
