Large handle tweezers
Normal tweezers can be difficult to use because they tend to be small devices with narrow thin handles that are hard to hold.
The use of tweezers is complicated further by the fact that the object of their use (e.g. a splinter) is often very small and difficult to see and get hold of.
This problem becomes exacerbated for anyone with a poor grip, arthritis, or hands that are not steady. Limited vision can also make the use of tweezers more difficult.
Modified tweezers
One solution to using tweezers is to buy a pair of modified oversized handle tweezers.
These tweezers have larger handles than normal with an easy-feel rubber or plastic coating and their increased length and width makes them easier to handle and control.
A further aid to using these implements is to buy a pair of tweezers that have an LED light. The small and efficient LED light directs a narrow but powerful beam of light between the jaws of the tweezers making it easier to identify and remover the splinter, hair etc.
These tweezers are still small enough to be discreet and they will fit in any handbag.
