Infrared thermometer (non intrusive)
An infrared thermometer is probably the most accurate and easy way of taking a person's body temperature.
Unlike a conventional glass thermometer is does not need to be inserted into the mouth. Instead it can obtain an accurate temperature reading from the ear or even from the forehead.
These infrared thermometers use heat sensitive digital components to register the body temperature and they do so with great accuracy and precision.
The display
The temperature is displayed on a small integral digital display screen and many models also offer the option of a voice announcement of the temperature reading. This makes it much easier to obtain the temperature reading than would be the case with an old style analogue thermometer which can be hard to read and requires both good light and good eyesight.
Most of these thermometers run off small button like batteries and they can take thousands of reading before battery replacement is required. They are also more robust than glass thermometers and they only take readings when turned on.
Most infrared thermometers are small enough to fit in a handbag or pocket and they are ergonomically designed, both for holding and taking the temoerature reading.
Infrared thermometers can be purchased online or from some pharmacists and they are usually small enough to be carried around.
