Long handled hair brush and comb

Brushing or combing hair is one of the first things that most people do when they get up in the morning, however holding and directing a hair brush can become difficult if lifting the hands above the head is problematic.

Long handled hair brushes and combs make it easier to groom the hair without having to raise the hands above the shoulder level.

These longer than normal brush handles normally provide up to one foot (300mm) of extra reach and they are either slightly curved, or have the brush angled slightly from the handle to help the brushing action. With some brushes this angle can be adjusted or set by the person using it.

The handle will normally have a non slip thicker than normal grip that makes it easier to hold and control. Whilst these aids are a simple variation on a normal brush they are highly effective.

A brush extension handle

An alternative to having a brush or comb with a long handle is to have an extension handle that clips on to a brush to increase its reach. These extensions work with a special brush (or comb) and they usually have a swivel or hinge action for the brush that allows different angles to be set during use. In some cases the brush will fold into the handle for easy storage or carrying.

The handles are normally made from a lightweight moulded plastic.
