Fibreglass ramp
Fibreglass (fibre glass) ramps are uses primarily because of their weight advantages and their ease of carriage.
Most fibreglass ramps are broad or full width ramps and they normally fold in half both lengthways and widthways to produce a suitcase style ramp with its own carrying handle. They have the usual non slip top surface and a smooth attractive folded-up finish.
Ramp capability
As an example, a 4 foot 6 inch long by 33 inch wide fibreglass folding ramp will weigh about 20 pounds and can typically carry a load of up to 500 pounds. This makes it both lightweight and highly flexible.
These ramps are very convenient to use and they do not have any metal edges, however they are slightly more partial to damage than their metal equivalents and they are not as robust in construction. This is of course due to their lightweight construction.
Fibreglass access ramps are still quite highly priced compared with some of the alternative ramp designs. However, their pricing structure is coming down and, in some people's eyes, they do have aesthetic advantages, along with the obvious portability advantage, over some of the other ramp materials.
