Car handy bar

Getting in and out of a car requires bending, sliding and the use of most muscles in the body. It is an everyday task for most people, but a very challenging one for some. There are however some aids that can help with this task and one of them is the car handy bar.

The car handy bar is a device that can be used to ease getting into and out of a car, a process that can often be awkward and difficult for older or less able bodied people.

The bar, which can be used as a support to help lift or lower oneself in to and out of a vehicle, attaches to the U shaped bracket that projects out from the back of a car door opening (where the door locking mechanism is). It is present on most vehicles.

How it works

The handle simply clips onto the U shaped metal bracket and it can then be used to take the load of a typical person as they push down on it to help themselves stand up and get out of the vehicle.

Naturally it works equally well if someone is sitting into a car seat and wishes to lower themselves slowly.

The bar clamps into position and it can be fitted and removed in seconds. Its strength does necessitate some weight, so it is a device that is ideally stored in a vehicle rather than carried around.
