McTimoney Chiropractic
McTimoney Chiropractic is a variation on the chiropractic approach. It has the same philosophy, in respect of realigning the bones, as standard Chiropractic and it also assumes that the nervous system can be helped by this treatment.
McTimoney Chiropractic can be used to help in the treatment of back pain, other forms of pain, numbness and pins and needles.
The difference between McTimoney Chiropractic and regular chiropractic
The McTimoney Chiropractic approach was developed over 50 years ago by its founder John McTimoney. It is only taught at a single college in Abingdon, Oxford, England.
The McTimoney method uses a traditional whole body approach to the treatment, but it is also very gentle in the way in which the therapist applies the adjustments. For this reason it can be seen as more suitable for younger or older people, or those who are sensitive or easily subjected to discomfort.
Some McTimoney practitioners will work with animals.
